Tequila leader Cuervo has lined up the worldwide release of limited edition bottles for two of its namesake brand’s expressions in time for the ‘Día de Muertos’ Mexican festival.
The Reposado iterations of Jose Cuervo Especial features ‘Day of the Dead’ artwork on their bottles.
Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) is one of Mexico’s oldest and most iconic holidays, a joyful event when the dead return to visit their living family and friends. To tell the multifaceted and authentic story of the diverse Día de Muertos traditions around Mexico, Cuervo Tradicional will share a new Día de Muertos film every year, each created by an emerging Mexican filmmaker.
Jose Cuervo is the bestselling brand of tequila, selling a fifth of the tequila consumed worldwide. As of 2012, Jose Cuervo sells 3.5 million cases of tequila in the US annually, accounting for a third of the US tequila market. Jose Cuervo is family owned and is run today by the Beckmann family of Mexico, descendants of Don José Antonio de Cuervo. Juan Domingo Beckmann is the sixth-generation leader of the company. In July 2013 Proximo Spirits took over US distribution of Jose Cuervo from Diageo, following Diageo's failed attempt to buy the company.
